LONG LOST DAREDEVIL CONSOLE GAME FINDS ITS WAY OUT OF THE DARKNESS AND LANDS ON EMULATORS

Daredevil has both a live-action film and multi-season series under their belt with a new show under the Marvel Studios banner being worked on in some capacity. What was once a somewhat obscure superhero is now commanding applause when they cameo in the likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home and was one of the bright spots of last year’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Disney+.

One entertainment medium where ol’Hornhead hasn’t really commanded the spotlight is the interactive space. The Man Without Fear has been featured in ensemble titles, like various LEGO games and an expansion for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, but the only game with the character’s name on the marquee is a 2003 Game Boy Advance title developed by Griptonite Games.

In another part of the multiverse, Daredevil has at least one other game to their name, a PlayStation 2 game to be exact. In OUR universe, however, the game that would’ve gone by the title Daredevil: The Man Without Fear sadly never came to market. Developed for Sony’s juggernaut second console by a studio known as 5,000 Ft., footage for The Man Without Fear could be viewed on websites in the early part of the century, and as the Ben Affleck led feature film inched closer to theaters in 2003, advertisements could be seen for it in comics and magazines.

This week, curious players were finally given the chance to experience what Daredevil’s console debut would’ve been like. An anonymous developer who worked on the game dumped a near finished build of Daredevil: The Man Without Fear to Hidden Palace. If you’re proficient with emulators, or have the patience and perseverance, you can now try it out for yourself.

The story of why Daredevil: The Man Without Fear never came to market was covered by Liam Robertson. If you’re at all interested in video game history, Liam’s video is a highly researched and captivating piece that you should check out if you haven’t already.
