Founded in 1995 by Victor Lucas, The Electric Playground has become one of the longest running programs dedicated to covering the video game industry. Starting out as a website before becoming one of the pioneering television programs about video games that helped launch the career of many prominent personalities, The Electric Playground today exists as a YouTube channel that’s still run by Victor Lucas. The Electric Playground’s YouTube channel not only hosts classic episodes of the long-running television show, but is frequently updated with new reviews, live shows and interviews with prolific members of the video game and entertainment industry.
A lot of the success of The Electric Playground is owed to Victor Lucas, whose hard work, magnetic charm and positive outlook has made him a legend both in his home country of Canada and the world over. Inspired by 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, Victor started a segment on The Electric Playground channel, 16-bit Superheroes, that looks back on classic comic book games from that era. Victor has since expanded the scope of the series into Side Scrolling Superheroes, which is continuously expanded upon with videos about comic book games from the NES, Game Boy and many more.
