ROGUE TROOPER: REDUX COMING TO PS4, XBOX ONE, PC AND SWITCH

Released in 2006, Rogue Trooper, based on the 2000 AD comic of the same name, is in my opinion one of the most overlooked shooters of the past decade. I would know, because I dismissed it then but having played it recently, it holds up extremely well and easily stands next to shooters like even Gears of War in the third-person shooter genre. I couldn’t be more happy to write that Rogue Trooper is getting a second chance thanks to UK Developer TickTock Games who are remastering the game for all the current generation consoles, including the Switch, and PC. Other than the new title, Rogue Trooper: Redux, very little is known about the project as even the brief teaser video is nothing but a logo and staff talking about how the game was ahead of its time, which it very much was. Today’s announcement of Redux makes it the first comic book game announced for Nintendo’s newest console, which arrives this coming Friday.

In Rogue Trooper, you play as the title character who is a genetically engineered soldier fighting a war on NuEarth with his squad mates who just so happen to live in his helmet, backpack and gun. The last time the property we saw the property was in a Wii-release of the game, sub-titled Quartz Zone Massacre which was a simple port of the PS2/Xbox game with poorly implemented motion controls. Read my full review of Rogue Trooper and find out why it’s a game worth getting excited over HERE.

  1. This is one of my favorite shooters(1st or 3rd person)ever-To me it holds up pretty well, and played on PC with ReShade and /or GeDoSaTo to enhance lighting and downsampling, looks pretty good too. There is a Steam controller profile available and it supports other controllers(i use a PS2 style Logitech or my X360 or Xbone ones). The lack or pvp multiplayer was my only gripe, although i had a lot of fun in the co-op multi when it still worked on GameSpy (GameRanger works).

    • I missed it when it was new, but picked it up in 2015 on Xbox Original. Works flawlessly on the Xbox 36o and like the announcement video says, the game was WAY ahead of its time. It came out months before Gears of War and had the same guts, just with much more interesting mechanics regarding your “squad”.
