Back in August, the news broke that the next playable character that would be coming to Marvel’s Avengers would be The Winter Soldier. Since then, the game has gotten a new Villain Sector in the “No Rest for the Wicked” mission and Google Stadia, the streaming platform that was a home to Marvel’s Avengers has been effectively shut down. That was only towards the tail end of the month, but it’s still funny that things feel longer ago than what they actually are.
Today, players learned when they wound finally be able to take control of Steve Rogers’ dearest friend and it’s not a very long wait. Bucky “The Winter Soldier” Barnes will arrive in the game on November 29th as part of Marvel’s Avengers 2.7 update. This will include the new Cloning Lab Omega-Level Threat level designed specifically for 4-players in the 175 Power Level range. For those who make it to the end, they’ll come face-to-face with a newly resurrected M.O.D.O.K last seen at the end of “No Rest for the Wicked”.
Voicing The Winter Soldier is Scott Porter, an actor who’s a veteran to the role having played the character in titles such as LEGO Marvel’s Avengers and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Like Spider-Man and Jane Foster before him, Bucky’s introduction will come via a motion comic and a series of iconic missions will acclimate players to the latest addition to the team. An additional reward for making it to the end is an iconic outfit for the character.
Marvel’s Avengers is available now on the PlayStation and Xbox family of consoles as well as PC.
