During the Square-Enix press conference at E3 2019, the world was introduced to Marvel’s Avengers via its debut trailer. For press who attended the show, they were given a behind closed doors look at the game, which was also the case at San Diego Comic-Con last month, but everyone else only got to read other’s impressions or watch poor quality videos captured through someone’s phone. At Gamecom 2019, the full close to twenty minute demo was finally made available to the public via an extended video, and not only do you get to see the team of Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Black Widow in action, but the new footage also confirms some theories that have popped up since June, especially pertaining to the trailer’s narrator. At one point in the trailer, a small girl wearing a Captain Marvel t-shirt can be seen falling and inhaling some escaping Terrigan mist, the substance that gives the Inhumans their abilities. Marvel Comics fans surely put two-and-two together and came to the conclusion that this is Kamala Kahn, aka Ms. Marvel, a new character in the Marvel Universe with powers similar to Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four.
This was confirmed by Scot Amos, the studio head at Crystal Dynamics, when speaking to USGamer. “There is a young Kamala Khan,” said Amos, “She’s there on A-Day when the Helicarrier’s about to go down.” Of course if Ms. Marvel is in this game, this more or less confirms that her idol, Captain Marvel also exists in the universe of Marvel’s Avengers.
Marvel’s Avengers arrives May 15th, 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Google Stadia platforms.
