In early 2017, Square-Enix via a brief teaser video announced that they, along with their development teams at both Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, were partnering with Marvel to bring us the first console Avengers game since 2012’s Marvel’s Avengers: Battle for Earth for Xbox 360 and Wii U. Since that time, two E3’s and other conventions have come and gone and no one has even got a whiff of what Square-Enix has been cooking up, but that’s about to change in less than two weeks. Square-Enix finally revealed today that during their live presentation at this year’s E3 which airs on June 10th starting at 6 PST, the public will finally see the game that is now officially titled Marvel’s Avengers.
The title falls in line with the naming convention of the last year’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and the upcoming Marvel’s Iron Man VR, both exclusive to the PlayStation family of consoles. Will the new “Marvel’s (insert name)” brand set up a connected Marvel Gaming Universe similar to what the films have been doing since 2008? E3 is just around the corner so hopefully we’ll have more answers then.
