DC’s next animated feature, Son of Batman, hasn’t even been released (it drops May 6th on Blu Ray and DVD) and a trailer for their next animated feature has found it’s way online:
Batman: Assault on Arkham takes place in the same universe as the “Arkham” series of games (Asylum, City, Origins and Origins Blackgate) and features long time Batman, Kevin Conroy, returning to voice the Dark Knight while Troy Baker returns as the Joker, marking his third outing of the character having taken over from veteran voice actor Mark Hamill when he retired from the role in 2011’s Batman: Arkham City. Tara Strong also returns as Harley Quinn with CCH Pounder providing the voice for Amanda Waller, having done so in Justice League Unlimited and the Origins series.
Given the fact that the Joker is healthy….and alive, it’s safe to assume that the story falls within the period between last year’s Arkham Origins and 2009’s Batman: Arkham Asylum. From the trailer it also looks like despite having “Batman” in the title, the Caped Crusader is taking a back seat to the Suicide Squad, further cementing my theory that WB Games is cementing “the Squad” as their next big gaming franchise.
