SKYDANCE NEW MEDIA’S MARVEL GAME CHRISTENED AS MARVEL 1943: RISE OF HYDRA, COMING IN 2025

At D23 2022, Skydance New Media announced a collaboration with Marvel Games on a project set during 1943 starring Captain America and Black Panther, which in this period is T’Challa’s grandfather Azzuri. Headed up by Amy Hennig, one of the creative forces behind the Uncharted franchise, the game didn’t have a official title until today when it was unveiled along with the first piece of new media that has been released since the reveal of the partnership.

Now titled Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and expected to arrive sometime in 2025, the story trailer that dropped today was still absent of any gameplay footage, but like a lot of modern software, it certainly looks impressive. While no one knows how the game will play exactly – it could be a Telltale style adventure game after all until Skydance opens up about it again – seeing Captain America bounce around his shield in the footage brought back warm memories of Next Level Games’ Captain America: Super Soldier.

Azzuri will be played by Khary Peyton (Teen Titans Go!, Young Justice) while Cap is performed by Drew Moerlein who’s relatively unknown in the game space, but then again so was Nolan North before players heard him voice Nathan Drake in 2007. You can read about the remaining cast members, including who plays Howard Stark, at the linked article below. Composing the soundtrack is Stephen Barton who worked on the Titanfall franchise and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor with Respawn Entertainment.
