SUICIDE SQUAD: KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY DELAYED INTO 2024

Originally unveiled in 2020 with a 2022 release window during a DC FanDome event, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the first non-Batman title from Rocksteady Studios since Urban Chaos: Riot Response, was delayed into 2023. At the end of the year it was originally supposed to launch in, a trailer that debuted at the Game Awards not only brought the news that Kevin Conroy would be posthumously be voicing Batman in the game, but that it would also arrive on May 26th, 2023.

In February during a State of Play event held by Sony, the world got their first real look at Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the reception was not kind. From requiring an always online connection to having worn out trends like an obnoxious battle pass, rumors quickly began circulating from the likes of Jason Schreier via Bloomberg that Kill the Justice League would not be making its targeted May launch date. WB Games have been mostly silent about this speculation, that is until today when the official news came out that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will not be arriving until February 2nd, 2024 at the earliest.

From the official Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Twitter account:

We have made the tough but necessary decision to take the time needed to work on getting the game to be the best quality experience for players. Thank you to our amazing community for the continued support, patience and understanding. There is much more to share in the months ahead and we look forward to seeing you in Metropolis next year.

Provided it makes its early 2024 target, it will be almost a decade since Rocksteady’s last major release, 2015s Batman: Arkham Knight, and close to eight years after their last shipped product, Batman: Arkham VR. The development landscape has shifted significantly as the teams and budgets required to make a AAA video game have skyrocketed exponentially, but it’s hard not to think about the days when Rocksteady could ship a trio of Arkham games and a brief but enjoyable VR spin-off in less time than it takes to make one game.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is tentatively scheduled for February 2nd, 2024 and will release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC.
