LRG3: CLASSIC KONAMI TMNT SOUNDTRACKS COMING VIA LIMITED RUN GAMES

Last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection from Konami and Digital Eclipse, to put it mildly, was one of the single best compilation packages ever produced. One of the best features – among several dozen of them – was the ability to listen to the totally tubular tunes that many who grew up in that era will easily break into without warning.

Just announced during their recent showcase, Limited Run Games will be producing a series of soundtracks on vinyl, CD, and even cassette for each game included in The Cowabunga Collection. The first, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the NES goes up for pre-order this Friday. The others will follow on a monthly basis, and if you’re wondering, Turtles in Time goes up in December.

What’s best about these already great albums is that you don’t have to make the choice between the arcade or console versions. For games like Turtles in Time which started as a cabinet and eventually came to consoles for example, the soundtrack will include both. Presumably this will also be the case for something like Tournament Fighters which had 3 unique versions.
