San Diego Comic Con 2023 is officially underway, and select patrons visiting the convention were able to sit in on a panel dedicated to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at Hall H. For the many people around the world who couldn’t afford to travel to San Diego, details of the panel have just found their way onto the PlayStation Blog and a new story trailer just dropped too.
After spending the last 2 chapters of Insomniac’s Spider-Man saga in a Bacta tank, we finally get our first glimpse of Harry Osborn who has a new lease on life and wants to work with Peter to change the world. Miles is happy for the return of Peter’s friend, but also can’t help but feel that this will distract him from being Spider-Man together.
MJ, still a reporter for the Daily Bugle though the PlayStation Blog states her position is threatened by a returning J. Jonah Jameson, is tasked by Peter to research the arrival of big bad Kraven the Hunter. There are flashes of the arrival of the symbiote, as well as Harry and Norman’s first interaction with it. As seen in the last few trailers, we get to see the reactions of characters like Miles and Mary Jane’s reaction to Peter’s new attitude brought on by his new costume.
The trailer concludes with a first look at Venom in action, with some fresh new lines from Tony Todd. Another villain now confirmed to be making a return, Mr. Negative, will assuredly test Miles in ways he never has since becoming Spider-Man.
For those awaiting the arrival of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as an excuse to purchase the still pricey PlayStation 5, a new bundle was announced that includes the game, albeit as a digital voucher. The racing fins that surround the PlayStation 5 and the packaged DualSense controller show the black symbiote ooze slowly taking over with very only a little red and a white spider logo left.
Because of the modular nature of the system, those who already own a PlayStation 5 will be able to simply purchase these items separately. Cases will be produced specifically for the digital only and disc enabled consoles, and these will be sold alongside the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DualSense controller. All of these products will go up for pre-order starting July 28th for a September 1st release date. Mondo is also producing a vinyl soundtrack from composer John Paesano with cover art by Kris Anka. You can pre-order that piece HERE.
SDCC attendees can snag a con exclusive print from artist Tomer Hanuka. Everyone else can purchase an exclusive print HERE until July 23rd at 9:59PM PDT.
