Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge delivered on its promise and then some of modernizing the classic TMNT arcade brawler formula established by the likes of Konami in the early 90s. In early June, just shy of the 1 year anniversary of Shredder’s Revenge‘s release, developer Tribute Games dropped the news that an expansion of sorts, Dimension Shellshock, was coming, along with a new playable character: Usagi Yojimbo.
The details were initially vague on just exactly Dimension Shellshock would be, or when players could get their hands on it. Over the weeks Tribute Games has trickled out information on it, culminating in today’s dual reveal of the release date and yet another new character coming to the roster. Players can begin downloading the update which grants access to Dimension Shellshock starting on August 31st which also adds Karai. Karai’s origins date back to the Mirage era of TMNT comics, but over the years has played many roles. In the 2003 animated series, she was the adopted daughter of Shredder, while in the 2012 reboot, she was Splinter’s estranged daughter who was taken from him at a young age and corrupted by Shredder.
Both Karai and Usagi will be playable in the main campaign as well as the new survival mode that adds new backgrounds, music courtesy of Tee lopes, and power-ups that allow you to control the boss characters featured in Shredder’s Revenge.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is available now on the PlayStation and Xbox family of consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC. Dimension Shellshock will become available to download starting August 31st.
