INJUSTICE 2 HELPED TO INFLUENCE THE FORTHCOMING BLUE BEETLE LIVE-ACTION FILM

Writers, directors, and actors have a lot of source material to draw upon when adapting comic book characters to the big screen. Now they have another tool in their arsenal to play with: video games.

When making Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Chris Evans admitted to taking inspiration from the underappreciated Captain America: Super Soldier when evolving the character’s fighting style for the beloved sequel. Speaking to Discussing film, Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto dropped that he also looked towards the interactive arena as a way to show off the title character’s abilities.

Films like The Raid: Redemption and Gangs of London inspired Soto, but also NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice 2 and another classic video game franchise.

“But, at the same time, we play with different alternatives that are fantastic and the wish-fulfillment of a young man. For example, a lot of the combos in Injustice 2, we used them as a reference during fights and with the manifestations of the weapons. Blue Beetle’s blaster was even inspired by Mega Man!
