2023 has been a stacked year for games, and as the holiday shopping season approaches, things are going to get worse on your wallet before they get. For lovers of comic book video games alone, October has new and new-to-a-system titles starring Batman, Spider-Man, and Hellboy.
Originally set to drop in just under a week on October 4th, the news came down today that Hellboy: Web of Wyrd will now arrive 2 weeks later on October 18th. If it’s for the health and well being of the title, plus the talented people making it, a minor delay isn’t that bad, but Web of Wyrd is about to come up against some stiff competition. Batman: Arkham Trilogy, while a Nintendo Switch exclusive and ports of older games, releases October 13th and Sony’s big PlayStation 5 exclusive, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will suck the air out of the conversation a week later on October 20th just 2 days after Hellboy: Web of Wyrd lands.
There’s also a little indie title called Super Mario Bros. Wonder dropping the same say as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and the highly anticipated Alan Wake II closes out the end of the month. Putting out a game like Hellboy: Web of Wyrd around the spooky October season makes a lot of sense marketing wise, but hopefully it doesn’t get lost among some of the biggest releases of the year.
Hellboy: Web of Wyrd arrives October 18th on the PlayStation and Xbox family of consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC.
