The big-budget, AAA space has been seemingly plagued with nothing more than extensive delays and cancellations as of late. In the super hero space, both the standalone Wonder Woman and Black Panther games were cancelled before they could even be shown off. Given the recent developments around both EA and Microsoft, it wouldn’t be too shocking to see the announced Iron Man and Blade products sadly get canned too.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the in-development project starring Captain America and Black Panther from Skydance Games has not been cancelled, but we shouldn’t expect it anytime soon according to an announcement made today. Once promised for 2025 before getting moved into a nebulous “early 2026” window, the title has now bumped to some nebulous time in the future. From the Skydance Games media account:
Led by Amy Hennig, who helped bring the Uncharted series into existence, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is set in Captain America’s pre-frozen days and has him teaming up with Azzuri, the Black Panther of that era. As of this writing, the most footage that has been shown from it is a story trailer that released in March of 2024.
