The Avengers are set to star in another game, but it’s still not the game fans have been craving.
Marvel: Avengers Alliance Tactics from Disney Interactive is the upcoming sequel to the Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance and will also be played on that platform. Whereas that game was a turn based RPG-lite game where you stood idly by and watched various heroes from the Marvel Universe attack each other, tactics lets you strategically place your custom S.H.I.E.L.D agent and up to 3 heroes from a pool of 20 on a fully realized 3D map when engaging in combat. From the few screen shots made available for the game, returning heroes include Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor, Iron Fist, Iron Man, Hulk and Wolverine.
Similar to its predecessor, you take on the role of S.H.I.E.L.D agent which you can level up with new abilities along with the heroes you’ll unlock during play. PVP will also be returning in this iteration of Avengers Alliance, along with a new story that has Earth’s Mightiest Heroes banding together to combat threats from other dimensions:
Marvel: Avengers Alliance Tactics follows the Avengers as they work to protect Earth against threats from other dimensions. S.H.I.E.L.D. has sent a strike force to the Savage Land after detecting an enormous energy anomaly. This routine containment mission reveals a shocking source: the imminent collision of uncountable parallel dimensions. Now, Super Heroes from each dimension turn on each other, desperate for survival.
If you reside in Canada (like me!), you’ll be able to test the game in the next few days, and on a more personal note, it’s nice to get something before the United States for once after being denied access to region blocked videos.

Hey there, nice recap! I’m playing in the beta and it’s pretty much as they say: light tactics, 3D fight maps, base building, and a lot of farming the same content (but there’s probably more chapters coming soon).

Nice summary, though you don’t get to place 20 heroes, just 4 on your own side vs. 1-7 on the enemy side.

When I see New Avengers game coming, I want it to be the next big gaming franchise, not a Facebook or mobile game. Not that there’s anything wrong with either, but I think the Avengers could be right up there with the best if Disney put the right push behind it.
