As part of the massive “Spider-Verse” event that’s currently ongoing in the Spider-Family books at Marvel, several spin-off series have been launched alongside one new monthly title: Spider-Woman, AKA Jessica Drew. Jessica’s male counterpart, Spider-Man, has gone through numerous outfit changes over his 700 + issue run in comics while she’s been stuck in the same outdated costume for close to fifty years, something that will be changing very soon.
While comic fans won’t get to see the new and improved Spider-Woman until March’s Spider-Woman #5, comic book video game fans will be able to catch an early glimpse when it becomes an unlockable character option in the free-to-play mobile endless run, Spider-Man: Unlimited from Gameloft.
Personally I’m a fan of the costume and have felt for a long time that Jessica, along with Quicksilver, looked really out of date alongside a lot of their peers contemporary redesigns. Heck, even Captain America whose been around since the 1940’s got a new costume as part of the Marvel NOW! initiative in 2012. I’m just one person though, so I’d love to hear what everyone’s opinions are of the outfit in the comments.
