We’ve pretty much known that Harley Quinn would be playable in Batman: Arkham Knight via DLC since the debut trailer last winter, but little details have provided as to what that entails, that is until now. On a description for the upcoming game on Amazon.com, a brief synopsis is provided for the expansion featuring Mr. J’s puddin’:
For the first time in the Arkham series take on the role of Joker’s psychotic side-kick Harley Quinn and wreak havoc inside the Blüdhaven Police Department. With this exclusive Story Pack experience events in the lead-up to Arkham Knight as you infiltrate Blüdhaven to rescue your partner in crime: Poison Ivy. Delve deep into Harley’s demented nature and utilize her devastating baseball bat to smash, crash and bash your way to a friend very much in need.
There’s a few interesting takeaways from these details, should they indeed prove to be true. The first is that this will be the first time ever the Arkham series has been set outside of Gotham City, even more noteworthy in that the add-on will take place in Nightwing’s former stomping ground. As of right now the only time that Nightwing, or Dick Grayson, has been seen in this series of games has been in the Batman: Arkham Origins multi-player mode where he was Robin, and as a playable character in the challenge room missions in Batman: Arkham City. I wonder what he’ll have to say about Harley’s visit into town.
The second is that this is also the first attempt at establishing Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy as being partners in the Arkham series. In the animated series where Harley debuted as well as in her most recent ongoing series the two have paired up, but the most we’ve ever seen them on screen together in the entire Arkham canon was when Harley let Poison Ivy out of her cell back in Batman: Arkham Asylum.
