It’s been an Arkham couple of days, hasn’t it?
First we had the description from Amazon for the Harley Quinn DLC for Batman: Arkham Knight, then the three week delay for Batman: Arkham Knight, and now the rumour mill is swirling again thank to IGN Italy that we may be getting remasters of the Rocksteady Arkham games: Asylum and City, by this year’s holiday season for the current generation of hardware (PS4/Xbox One). This is not unexpected, as everything is getting remastered and resold this generation, from The Last of Us, DMC: Devil May Cry, Tomb Raider (2013) and the recently announced God of War III. Noticeably absent is the WB Games developed Batman: Arkham Origins, but as that game was developed outside of Rocksteady and not received that well by fans, not even enough to get a re-release with the DLC on disc, it’s not that surprising.
What comes as the biggest surprise is that this wasn’t prepared before the June release of Knight to give fans an opportunity to replay Rocksteady’s game on the current generation of systems to be caught up for the grand finale. With Knight coming out in the summer though, it does live an empty spot in the holiday season that would be filled pretty nicely by not one, but two remastered Arkham games.
