Despite what your feelings on Marvel’s mobile video game portfolio, personally I wish they would make traditional games like WB Games does with their Arkham franchise, you can’t deny that their offerings have not been diverse: There’s a puzzle/RPG hybrid in Marvel Puzzle Quest; A fighting game in Marvel Contest of Champions and an action-RPG in Marvel Future Fight among many others. Now what can only be described as Attack on Titan: Junior High meets the Marvel Universe comes Avengers Academy, the next mobile title set to arrive in the new year from developer TinyCo.
In Avengers Academy, players are responsible for building their own personal superhero campus to attract school age versions of famous Avengers like Captain America, Iron Man and Black Widow. You attract these characters by constructing things like training facilities, laboratories and as well as sports arenas. Once you’ve completed your campus and start attracting heroes, you then can level up your roster and compete in adventures, as while this is a game about building a superhero school, there’s still a Marvel twist to the experience. From Bill Rosemann, creative director at Marvel Games:
“…here’s the extra twist: There’s a mystery for you to uncover—a shocking truth that lies beneath the very campus you’re exploring. You see, these are the real deal Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (and Villains), complete with their distinct personalities, powers and personal struggles that we’ve all grown to know and love. What has transformed them into students, and what chain of events have assembled them at the ultimate superhuman university? Class is in session…do you have what it takes to become an Avenger?”
