Marvel must have a lot of faith in Telltale’s just launched Guardians of the Galaxy series as along with the release of the first episode Tangled up in Blue yesterday, it was revealed that there would be a comic book tie-in series starting this July. From the creative team of writer Fred Van Lente (X-Men Noir) and artist Salva Espin (Deadpool: Back in Black), the five issue mini-series will follow the cast from the game’s exploits leading up to the events that transpire in the game. This isn’t the first time a Telltale series based on a comic book property received a comic book spin-off. 2013’s The Wolf Among Us, based on the Vertigo series Fables, received a digital first comic book series in late 2014 that eventually went to print. Marvel also produced an ongoing series based on the mobile fighting game Marvel Contest of Champions after the Secret Wars event that lasted ten issues.
