Telltale has just announced via their Twitter account that the fourth episode of their Guardians of the Galaxy series, titled “Who Needs you”, will start arriving on consoles, mobile devices and PC starting on October 10th. In the same tweet, Telltale also revealed that a trailer for the episode will drop sometime tomorrow morning. From the image it looks like this episode will focus on Drax the Destroyer, following in the trend of the other episodes so far of having the whole team, yet putting an emphasis on specific team members. The series debut focusing primarily on Peter “Star-Lord” Quill, before providing character moments for Rocket and Gamora in episodes two and three respectively.
So far, I’ve felt TT games has been hit or miss in capturing the true feeling of the series they do.
I kind of feel they should really avoid trendy licenses like Batman, GoT and Walkind Dead and JUST DO THEIR STORIES. Sure the sales won’t be as big, but at this point most people know who Telltale Games are and pick the game up.

I think that would be a tough sell, and I’ll bring up Tales of the Borderlines as why this might not work. Telltale has fans, and I’ve heard from countless websites and personal sources that Tales of the Borderlands if the best work they’ve done. Thing is, I don’t CARE about Borderlands in the least, so I have very little incentive to play it. (http://comicbook.com/gaming/2017/08/09/was-tales-from-the-borderlands-considered-a-failure-/)
I love what they’ve been doing with their licenses recently, especially Batman. I’m totally burnt out on Batman, but the way they’re willing to radically change things has made it great. I’m similarly loving Guardians of the Galaxy, and while it does lean on the movies a bit too much, there’s still a lot to like if you’ve read at least the 2000’s DnA comics.

I understand, there is a lot of likeable qualities in their games. I just feel there is something missing. I can only truly speak for the TWD seasons (1&2 were great!) and Back to the Future.
Their story content is original in its skeletal form, so I really feel they could be original like when they did Sam & Max.

What they really need to do but I think they can’t is just take a while off and iron out some things. The Walking Dead Season 1 was the last, what I’ll call “traditional” adventure game because you still had to get items and solve puzzles like in episode one where you had to get a screw driver or something like that (it’s been a while). One of the primary people behind TWD season 1 left and formed Campo Santo who did Firewatch which has a lot more freedom but is still very much a narrative driven game.

Cool. Did not know that! You’re right, they don’t need to just stop what they’re doing, otherwise they can’t their staff, lol! Hopefully they do move it towards something more independent.

Also Sam and Max isn’t quite “origina” as it’s 1) based off a comic and 2) a pre-existing Lucasarts IP.
