Marvel’s Spider-Man has taken the top spot of the NPD’s for the month of September, beating out competition from franchises like Tomb Raider and Madden which arrived on multiple consoles and other platform exclusives like Forza Horizon 4 and Super Mario Party. Not only did Marvel’s Spider-Man top the NPD’s, but it also became the biggest launch month, in terms of dollar sales, for any PlayStation exclusive title. When compared to other Spider-Man video games that have been tracked since the NPD group began recording sales in 1995, Marvel’s Spider-Man is 37 percent higher than the combined launches for every Spider-Man game released in their respective launch month. Marvel’s Spider-Man’s sales so far have only been topped by another Sony exclusive game, God of War (2018), and Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5.
