This summer, Nintendo opened up a new channel of their subscription service Nintendo Switch Online Plus Expansion Pack tier specifically for M-rated Nintendo 64 games. Aptly titled MATURE 17+, it’s a separate application from the one that houses the other Nintendo 64 classics like Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Upon its debut, the MATURE 17+ label launched with 2 games: Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Rare’s Perfect Dark. Today, a pair of titles were shadow dropped to join them as both 1998’s Turok 2: Seeds of Evil and 1999’s Shadow Man, both originally published by Acclaim, were added for subscribers.
For those counting, the MATURE 17+ label is now made up of 75% Acclaim comic book themed titles. Not only that, all 3 additions have far superior remasters available for separate purchase on the Nintendo eShop courtesy of Nightdive Studios. While it’s great that these games are preserved in their original form, warts and all, they largely exist as historical curiosities when paired against their remasters that have upgraded visuals and controls. At the very least the price is right as they don’t increase the price of your subscription.

If you act fast though, there’s a sale running on the Turok titles and Shadow Man Remastered on the Nintendo eShop that expires within 2 days of this writing. If you haven’t added them to your collection, they’re easily the best way to experience these games and well worth the asking price regardless of a sale.
