LOOKING FOR SOME MARVEL CONSOLE GAMES? WAIT UNTIL 2016

It’s impossible not to be less than enthused when hearing news about how Marvel is adding X character to Y free-to-play game, especially after spending the last couple of weeks playing one of the greatest comic book games ever crafted in Batman: Arkham Knight. Where have the days gone where we got titles like X-Men Legends, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Ultimate Spider-Man? E3 came and went and the only Marvel console game on display was the already announced Lego Marvel’s The Avengers.

It seems the reason we’re not hearing more about Marvel’s console offerings is that they’re still in the works, but we’ll apparently be hearing more in 2016. During a panel at SDCC when asked if Marvel was still looking for partners for console games, Marvel Games producer Mike James replied with the following:

“We are very much focused on what our console strategy will be for the future,…Obviously console games take a lot longer to incubate, so that will be a slower process for us”. He added: “We are very much taking a controlled, less-is-more, quality-focused, developer-focused strategy,…, but it is very top of mind, and we’ll have a lot more announcements probably next year.”
