In what will probably be the closest we see to a Marvel world in Kingdom Hearts, it was announced today at D23 that the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3 will feature a world inspired by 2014’s Big Hero 6, which was loosely based on the Marvel comics property of the same name. At the event, Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto showed the audience concept art of Sora flying around on the loveable Baymax in the city of San Fransokyo and fighting an evil doppleganger of Baymax. Normally when a world is introduced in the Kingdom Hearts series, they serve as a loose retelling of the plot of the movie they’re based on, however Roy Conli, producer on both Big Hero 6 and Tangled (which will also appear in KH3), stated the events in the game will follow the events of the film but still maintain the same themes.
