The only reason I’m awake right now is because of pure hype and excitement. Having worked very early yesterday morning, it was a struggle to stay up for the Sony press conference, and boy, am I glad that I did.
I could talk in length about the new incredible looking God of War, the just announced, WITH DEMO NO LESS, Resident Evil VII, the Crash Bandicoot PSOne trilogy getting remastered, but what of course got me excited the most was the two huge comic book games that got announced during the press conference, one of which I had no idea was coming while the other I had reported on here and knew about but still it caused me to get so excited that a friend texted me to make sure I was okay.
The first big comic book game announced is exclusive to this fall’s forthcoming PlayStation VR head set, meaning I somehow not only have to somehow get the money to buy one (should I seriously put a link in for donations?) but also get a physical to make sure I can actually play it without getting sick. The game is titled Batman: Arkham VR and it’s the first comic book property to come to the new headset format that also hails from series creator Rocksteady. A trailer was shown off featuring the voice of none other than Mark Hamill himself, reprising his role as the Joker and it’s absolutely haunting:
The second big comic book game revealed was one that I reported on a few ago months now, but it still didn’t make it any less special or chilling to see it live, and also to find out the team behind it. Sony confirmed the rumour from Nerd Leaks that there’s an exclusive Spider-Man coming to the PS4, hailing from developer Insomniac Games who happen to be one of the best developers working today today behind some of my most beloved franchises and games, namely Ratchet and Clank. To find out that a studio with Insomniac’s pedigree is bringing my all time favourite super hero to life on the PlayStation 4, especially after the disaster that was The Amazing Spider-Man 2, almost brings me to tears every time I think about it.
It looks like I made the right choice in what console I purchased this generation. Bravo Sony, keep doing whatever you’re doing, because by Odin, you’re doing it very, VERY right.
