For fans of toys-to-life games and Disney Infinity, the death of the platform is still being felt months later, especially with folks like Infinity Inquirer, Infiniteer Adventures and Kotaku revealing all of the wonderful things that were in the works for the remainder of 3.0 and beyond. Those who love brands like Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel can take some comfort that another toys-to-life up and comer is looking on resurrecting these wonderful brands into a new platform, that of Lego Dimensions.
In a recent trip to the WB Games offices in New York, Brian Crecente from Polygon asked among many questions if or when we can expect to see the brands that were once Disney Infinity exclusive in Dimensions, because after all outside of PIxar, Marvel, Disney and Star Wars have all had stand alone Lego games both before and during Dimensions inception. Steering away from specifics, as right now WB Games probably wants to focus on all the Season Two content that starts rolling out in September for Lego Dimensions, Warner Bros., like the many fans around the world, thinks it would be a great idea to incorporate all of these properties into Lego Dimensions and is “working on it”. Doug Heder, producer at WB Games elaborated:
“We are partners with Disney through our many stand-alone games, like Lego Marvel,…With any opportunity for Lego Dimensions, the first and foremost thing we explore is, can the brand play and mash-up with all of these other brands?”
While I wouldn’t expect to see any of the four major Disney brands show up during this year’s Lego Dimensions offerings, if sure seems like it’s a possibility that they could very well show up in whatever Season Three turns out to be next year.
