DC Universe Online was the first major licensed comic book MMO to make its way to market, beating competition from Marvel on PC by two years and consoles by six. Launching on both PC and PS3 in 2011, the game has since made its way to the PS4 and eventually the Xbox One when the studio once known as Sony Online Entertainment, the developer of DC Universe Online, broke off from Sony to form Daybreak Game Company. After January 31st, 2018, the first console in which DCUO found a home on will cease to house the game as Daybreak will officially move on from the platform to focus their effort on the current generation of consoles. Those who are still playing on the PS3 who want to keep playing can do so with all of their progress and purchases by singing in under their PlayStation Network ID on the PlayStation 4.
