Last month, Telltale Games unceremoniously closed down, leaving their hard-working employees without unpaid overtime, severance, and health benefits that expired two days ago. Days after the announcement of their closure, Telltale announced via their social media channels that they were seeking partners to deliver the final two episodes of their final season of The Walking Dead which sat well with absolutely no one. Why seek out partners when they previously had a staff of people who were familiar with Telltale’s technology and the character of Clementine whose story they were trying to finish?
Now it seems that the partnership that Telltale is trying to make happen will provide temporary, contract work to those affected by the studios closure. Speaking anonymously with Kotaku, two employees with knowledge of ongoing discussions have stated that whoever agrees to help fund the completion of The Walking Dead will hire ex-Telltale staff to do so. Ideally everyone who was hurt by the layoffs will be brought on, however it could be enough as needed to finish the two final episodes. Episode three was described as being essentially done and scheduled for a ratings review. Work was also underway on the final episode, which was scheduled to arrive in December, with the first vocal recordings already in the can.
