THE BONES OF TELLTALE’S SKELETON CREW HAVE BEEN PICKED CLEAN

A day after the first piece of somewhat positive news came out after the closure of Telltale regarding a partner studio picking up former staff to complete The Walking Dead, another sad headline has come out regarding the now defunct studio. When the studio suddenly closed down last month, most of its staff was terminated, save a skeleton crew who remained to finish developing a version of Minecraft: Story Mode for Netflix. Now even those individuals have felt the crushing hammer of Telltale’s demise. Writing on Twitter, Rachel Noel, a narrative designer who was of the 25 left at Telltale stated:

“Remember how there was going to be a skeleton crew staying on for a while and I was part of it?…Nah, jk, we all just got laid off, too.”

She later clarified that there was still a few people left at Telltale, and also that like everyone else who was terminated before her, she received no severance pay of any kind. Despite the turmoil within the studio, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is still optimistic that a conclusion for Clementine’s story will indeed happen. Speaking at a panel at New York Comic-Con, Kirkman stated:

“Everyone involved is trying to make sure Clementine’s story is told,” adding “I’m not concerned at the moment with telling that story in the comics.”
