Developer Rocksteady showed the world what AAA comic book games could be with their series of Batman games. They’ve largely sat out this generation however, releasing only Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015 followed by the much smaller in scope Batman: Arkham VR a year later. Several E3’s and Game Awards events have come and gone, with many anticipating the companies logo showing up in front of a teaser for their next project only to be left disappointed.
Earlier this summer, it was revealed that Rocksteady’s next post-Arkham Knight title would be shown off for the first time at DC’s FanDome event on August 22nd. Not long after that announcement, several URL’s leaked indicating that whatever Rocksteady was cooking up, they had left Gotham City behind to turn their attention to the Suicide Squad, with the Justice League being in the team’s crosshairs. Rocksteady has finally confirmed those rumors with a first hint at their next game ahead of the larger event later this month:
As you can see in the image, none other than the Man of Steel himself is shown with a Suicide Squad reticle over his head with the simple message “Target locked” followed by the FanDome date. It’s only a few short week now when the shroud of uncertainty will be lifted off whatever shape this game will be exactly, including how long it is away. Given how late this is being shown off, it can only be assumed that this game is not bound for the current generation of consoles and is more than likely coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
More as it develops.
