NOTE: ALL PRICES ARE IN US DOLLARS
Sony just finished wrapping up a pre-recorded event all about their next-generation PlayStation 5. We now that the console will be available in select countries starting November 12th and the rest of the world a week later on November 19th. The console with a disc drive will cost $499 while the all-digital console is one-hundred dollars cheaper at $399. At launch, PlayStation Plus subscribers will have access to a feature known as PlayStation Plus Collection. This allows you to download and play a number of PlayStation 4 games and among them is none other than Batman: Arkham Knight.
There was a lot of games shown off during the presentation, but the one most important to comic book fans was Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. As opposed to a pure story trailer like in the PS5 reveal event, this time around we got to see several minutes of gameplay footage. Starting off with Miles and his friend Ganke walking through the streets of Harlem while heading to a political rally for Miles’ mom, Rio, it then transitioned to a scene of Miles battling this game’s new enemy, The Underground, on the Braithwaite bridge. The Underground, led by The Tinkerer who is sounding much more young and feminine than the Terrible Tinkerer of old, is at war with the Roxxon energy group over a new energy source.
The combat sequence showing Miles in action looked very familiar to those who sunk dozens of hours into Marvel’s Spider-Man, but it also allowed Miles to show off what makes him unique too. With a group of enemies in the air, Miles lets loose with his venom blast attack and at one point uses his camouflage abilities to disappear out of sight. Once the enemies were taken care of, the situation turned much more dire as Miles had to use quick thinking combined with his webbing to help hold up the bridge and save civilians all by his lonesome. While scripted, it was absolutely thrilling to witness what was playing on screen and it was truly goose bump inducing.
A lengthy post was published on the PlayStation Blog about Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales shortly after where it was revealed that the game was also coming to PlayStation 4. For those who buy the PlayStation 4 version and eventually upgrade, the PS5 will automatically convert the PS4 version into the the next-gen version at no extra charge. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will came in both a regular and ultimate edition. The regular game is $49.99 on PS4/5, while the Ultimate Edition is exclusive to PS5. It will sell for $69;99 but will come with a digital code for a remastered version of Marvel’s Spider-Man. Included is all of the post game DLC and it promises to be more than just a simple upscale. it has been reworked to take advantage of the PS5 hardware with better looking character models and facial animation. This will be shown off on what is being called the next-gen Peter Parker.
