Home cabinet manufacturer Arcade1up has perhaps done more to preserve classic comic book games than any other company in the past few years. In 2019, they not only brought back the likes of X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes and The Punisher, the latter of which was never rereleased outside of a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive port that is now incredibly expensive, but also two of the beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade games from Konami.
They followed this up in 2020 with two more cabinets that further collected many of Capcom’s classic Marvel fighters plus X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse and Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems, neither of which have been seen since the days of the Super Nintendo. Now, they’re back with another unit that’s sure to excite die hard fans of retro superhero games.
Just unveiled at CES, Arcade1up is bringing back Konami’s beloved X-Men arcade game. Joining it are Data East’s Captain America and the Avengers and The Avengers in Galactic Storm. Captain America and the Avengers is known to many as it also received home ports on just about everything, but Galactic Storm, a one-on-one fighting game, is a title that few have ever got their hands on as it was quickly drowned out by Capcom’s far superior 2-D brawlers. For those who can get their hands on this latest machine, it will more than likely be their first ever experience with The Avengers in Galactic Storm.
You can sign up to be notified when the cabinet is available at the link below, and you can also read more about both Captain America and the Avengers and The Avengers in Galactic Storm next month in The Avengers in Video Games.
