Sony just released their quarter three financial results for last year, and they show that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was another big first-party hit for the company behind the PlayStation brand last year.
Launching on November 12th, 2020 in select territories and world wide a week later, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold 4.1 million units in the last two months of 2020. These are great numbers for a Spider-Man adventure not starring Peter Parker, and it hopefully means that Miles Morales will either continue to get his own adventures in the future, or at least play a larger part in Sony and Insomniac Games’ ongoing saga.
Miles Morales was one of the more exciting pieces of software released for Sony’s PlayStation 5 which also launched on November 12th. It didn’t hurt that select editions came with a remaster of Marvel’s Spider-Man either, a game that as of this writing is not available as an individual purchase. Sony also made the wise decision to release Miles Morales on the PlayStation 4 to a user base of over a hundred million.
The PlayStation 5 has shipped 4.5 million units since launch and is still a highly sought after item for those who can afford it. It must also be noted that there’s still an ongoing pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands and crippled the global economy. Video games have been a way to cope during this tumultuous time, however they’re still a luxury that not everyone can afford.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available now for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. There’s a free upgrade path to the PS5 version for those who are in possession of the PS4 version.
In our review of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we said “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales manages to do a lot with a short run time, and while it’s very similar in many respects to Marvel’s Spider-Man, it does more than enough to stand on its own.“
