Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was one of last fall’s most pleasant surprises, taking home the Game of the Year award for this site, and winning distinctions at the recent D.I.C.E awards for Adventure Game of the Year and Outstanding Achievement in Story. Despite its near universal positive reception, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy hasn’t exactly been the sure thing publisher Square Enix expected from a sales perspective, at least by their own, often misguided standards. In a recent reveal of their quarterly earnings, the company behind Final Fantasy stated “Despite strong reviews, the game’s sales on launch undershot our initial expectations.” They followed by saying that they’re going to “work to continue to expand sales to make up for the title’s slow start.”
One of those strategies was perhaps revealed today, as it was announced that starting on March 10th, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is coming to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. It will be free to download on the Xbox family of consoles, PC, and via the Cloud for those in that ecosystem. In our review of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy we stated “what you get can easily be considered one of the best comic book games ever made and a contender for game of the year. Whether you’re a casual or die hard lover of the property, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is not to be missed.”
If for one reason or another you’ve been on the fence about trying Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, there’s no reason not to download it in a few short days, provided you have some way to access Xbox Game Pass.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is available now on the Xbox and PlayStation family of consoles, PC, and Nintendo Switch via Cloud streaming.
I’ve been meaning to check out the Guardians of the Galaxy game but haven’t got around to it yet.
