When Sony released Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4 in 2018, they were the first studio in over a decade-and-a-half to lock a Spider-Man game to a console’s ecosystem since Sega did it in the great 16-bit war of the 90s. If you played on anything other than a PlayStation console and you wanted to experience what many consider to be the best digital Spider-Man adventure ever produced, you were straight out of luck.
That is, until this year.
Announced during Sony’s latest State of Play broadcast this evening, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is coming to PC on August 12th for both Steam and the Epic Games Store. The port comes courtesy of Nixxes, a studio Sony bought in July of last year because of their experience with producing high-quality conversions, including Marvel’s Avengers for Crystal Dynamics. Released in 2020, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is still only available as part of the Ultimate Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PlayStation 5. When Sony introduces their new tiered PlayStation Plus subscription service, it will still only grant access to the PlayStation 4 version of Marvel’s Spider-Man to subscribers. For those who have yet to play it, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered includes the base game as well as its post launch the City That Never Sleeps downloadable content.
Though it wasn’t revealed during the presentation, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is also coming to PC sometime this fall.
