In lieu of a once again absent E3, Geoff Keighley has stepped up with his Summer Game Fest for new game announcements and looks at already announced titles. The opening ceremonies just concluded, and among the reveals were some big comic book themed heavy hitters.
Originally set to release in March before getting delayed to the second half of the year, Marvel’s Midnight Suns made a return with a new cinematic trailer. In it, we see Lilith, the main antagonist of the game, enchanting Venom to her ranks. To combat her new symbiotic soldier is Spider-Man, confirmed as the latest playable character with a techno-magic upgrade and voiced by Yuri Lowenthal from Sony’s Marvel’s Spider-Man series. Also accompanying the trailer for Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a release date: October 22nd, 2022. Pre-orders at retailers like GameStop and Best Buy are already live and a Defenders Doctor Strange skin is an incentive to do so.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, a title we dubbed Most Anticipated in our Game of the Year Awards, was also on deck with brand-new footage that also introduced a new playable character and a release date. Jointing the Turtles, April, and Splinter is Casey Jones in the confirmed to be 6-player co-op game. You won’t have to wait long to play Shredder’s Revenge either as it lands next week, June 16th, for Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s also coming to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
Finally, Gotham Knights made an appearance with a cinematic dedicated to Nightwing. It lands 3 days after Marvel’s Midnight Suns for the current generation of consoles and PC.
