To say that fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games have been eating well these past few years would be an understatement. Next week Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Wrath of the Mutants drops, and later this year Outright Games will publish Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed. Today’s Nintendo Indie World presentation just placed another topping on an already tasty pizza.
Last year, the Super Evil Megacorp developed roguelike Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate released exclusively on the Apple Arcade subscription service. Not to dismiss those who enjoy the service, or playing games on their mobile device for that matter, but there’s always a hope that titles like these will eventually find a home someplace else. This July, Splintered Fate will indeed be moving elsewhere when it releases on the Nintendo Switch platform as a timed console exclusive.
The premise for Splintered Fate has the titular Turtles battling the Foot Clan and travelling through mysterious portals in an attempt to rescue their master, Splinter. A staple of the roguelike genre, each excursion through a portal counts as a run where you try to make it as far as you can without dying. The farther you get, the more powerful you become, but you can also lose your upgrades with but one careless move.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate comes to Nintendo Switch starting in July. Other consoles and PC are TBA.
