Announced back in 2014 and getting continuously delayed since then, it’s easy to forget that Payday developer Starbreeze is lending its talents to a new co-operative game based in the universe of The Walking Dead. Via a new cinematic trailer devoid of any gameplay footage that introduces one of the playable characters, Aidan, it looks like we can finally expect the game during the fall of next year in 2018.
Like a lot of games in this generation, especially those with multiplayer in mind, Overkill has stated that each playable character will have things like special abilities, skill trees, squad roles, play styles and background stories. Set to come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC next year, Overkill also released a behind-the-scenes video from the studio alongside the introduction trailer for Aidan that you can watch below. Though it looks like this game could fill the whole that Valve left empty by not continuing with the Left 4 Dead franchise, it at least sounds like Overkill’s The Walking Dead may have some sort of campaign element to it as well.
