Early today, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World director Edgar Wright suggested keeping an eye on the twitter account of Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley.
The news that Wright was hinting at is that after six years, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is FINALLY coming back. Announced today during Ubisoft’s Ubiforward live stream, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition will arrive holiday 2020 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia as well as PC. This rerelease that fans of the game have been hounding Ubisoft for years will come complete with the Knives Chau and Wallace Wells DLC add-ons that came to the original game. This is great news for anyone who picked up the original game back in 2010 but somehow missed the news that new content was added in.
While it’s great that Scott PIlgrim is coming back, Ubisoft has provided no word on whether or not they’re going to commit to a physical print run, whether through themselves or another party like Limited Run Games. Should there be a problem with rights again – new consoles are arriving this fall after all – it would be comforting to know that the game wouldn’t disappear again.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Scott PIlgrim vs. The World in August, we looked back on its beloved tie-in title and had this to say:
“If you haven’t ever experienced Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, do so anyway you can, and if it’s still sitting there on any console you own, now might be the time to replay one of the best comic book games there is.”
