Marvel’s Avengers is a game that can’t seem to catch a break. Nearly every headline about the struggling Games as a Service title is the equivalent of Sideshow Bob from The Simpsons constantly stepping on rakes. One thing that is nearly universally loved about it, however, is its campaign, and with a new update coming March 18th, players will be able to reexperience it whenever they wish.
March 18th is a big date for Marvel’s Avengers, as on it both the next generation versions arrive alongside a new character, Clint Barton, and new story content in the form of his operation, Future Imperfect. However, also on that date is an update that has been nothing but disliked since it was announced last week. Upon reaching level twenty-five, the way experience is collected will be altered, effectively making a game that’s essentially all about grinding much harder as it will take longer than ever to reach the max level of fifty. Square-Enix of course can course correct this, but as of this writing, they have not.
The Games as a Service portion of Marvel’s Avengers has never once found its footing since its September release, but soon at the very least players will be able to replay the story if they get the craving to play it without grinding through the same few maps over and over.
Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC. The next-generation version comes to both PlayStation 5, as well as Xbox Series S/X on March 18th. A free upgrade path is available to everyone who owns the original edition.
