MARVEL’S AVENGERS FINALLY DELIVERS SPIDER-MAN TO PLAYSTATION USERS ON NOVEMBER 30TH AS PART OF A BIG UPDATE

At this point, it’s somewhat exhausting talking about Marvel’s Avengers. There’s plenty to like about Crystal Dynamics take on the team, namely the single-player campaign and its expansions for how long they last. But, for every tick they get to place in the win column, it’s always outnumbered by the losses. After the release of the next-generation version, the addition of Black Panther in the War for Wakanda expansion and a few other improvements – including getting added to Game Pass in late September – Square Enix somehow manages to keep shooting themselves in the feet, and it’s as if the bullets are guided by Kate and Clint.

After going out on stage for the game’s big debut during E3 2019, the developers received thunderous applause from the audience after they proudly stated there would no pay-to-win microtransactions added to the game. Then, in the month of October, the game did indeed add experience boosters you could buy with real money. Thankfully, they have since reversed this, but it came after deafening silence. Just yesterday, the news dropped that Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda considered Marvel’s Avengers to be unsuccessful. They also somewhat threw Crystal Dynamics in front of a raging Hulk by stating that essentially it was maybe not the best idea to select a studio with a pedigree in single-player, story heavy outings to lead a Games as a Service title. Go figure.

Even after all that though, Marvel’s Avengers is a game that refuses to give up, much like Captain America who could just do this all day. On November 30th, Spider-Man will finally be added to the PlayStation 4 and 5 versions in the “With Great Power” event. The setup for the add-on reads as follows:

“Peter Parker uncovers AIM’s new plan to acquire technology that could make their Synthoid army unstoppable and total domination inevitable. He must partner with the Avengers to stop this looming threat, and forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow while keeping his identity hidden. As a Hero accustomed to working solo, he struggles with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?”

For all users regardless of hardware, November 30th will also see the launch of the Klaw Raid where teams working in unison can obtain rare gear as they battle a resurrected Klaw. The power level will also rise from 150 to 175, and players will also be able to earn cosmetic items through gameplay.
