In just a few short weeks, Spider-Man will become a playable character for PlayStation users in Marvel’s Avengers, starting on November 30th. After over a year since it was revealed that the web-slinger was coming to the title, today the world was given the first official look at Crystal Dynamics’s take on the character. This comes from a promotional image released by the official Marvel’s Avengers twitter account.
When discussing the design of Spider-Man for Marvel’s Avengers on the official PlayStation Blog in 2020, Art Director at Crystal Dynamics Jeff Adams wrote:
“Fans can expect to see Ditko and Romita’s influence in our take on the hero, with nods to other talented artists that have defined the character’s look over his long history.”
Though there are a few modern touches, Spider-Man look is exactly how Jeff described it. Though he’ll assuredly have many alternate costumes to both earn and buy, his default outfit adheres to the iconic outfit that has stood the test of time for over 50 years. It will be interesting to eventually hear who’s voicing the character, as the VP of creative at Marvel Games, Bill Rosemann, stands firm that the recent crop of titles under the “Marvel’s” umbrella don’t talk to one another. If Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor who plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man in both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is returning, you have to wonder if any other links between games will be hinted at.
In a follow up tweet, it advises to tune into IGN tomorrow for a new trailer specifically devoted to Spider-Man.
Marvel’s Avengers is available now on the PlayStation and Xbox family of consoles, Google Stadia and PC.
